Consultant Obstetrician

Dr Karl Murphy is a consultant obstetrician at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. He has expertise in the care of normal pregnancy and provides full private care to mothers who wish to have one-to-one treatment throughout their pregnancy. Dr Murphy enjoys the personal care he is able to give to expecting couples having their antenatal care at The london Maternity Centre, and giving birth both at the Lindo Wing St Mary’s and The Portland Hospital.

Dr Murphy has RCOG sub-specialist accreditation in Fetal Medicine. His research interests include obstetric ultrasound, antenatal screeinng and fetal monitoring in labour. He is a member of The Independent Doctors forum and has sat on the council. He is also a member of the Chelsea Clinical Society. He was Clinical Director of Obstetrics at St Mary’s Hospital from 1996-1998, and Clinical Director of Women and Children’s there from 1998-2000. He is a member of the Medical Defence Union council and sits on the Cases Committee, regularly undertaking medicolegal work on their behalf.
